We made the unanimous decision to hold tight at Midway Marina on Thursday as the weather was predicting severe thunderstorms and high gusts of wind...it didn't disappoint!
The wind was causing white caps and the rain poured down several times throughout the afternoon - so thankful we were snug on the dock!
We spent the day doing our own thing - Mark spent a lot of time troubleshooting the starboard gauge and DSM (depth finder) that were still not working...see picture below.
Ryk had some real work (paying job kind) that he needed to catch up on; and I did some work, organized a little and baked :)
It's hard to tell, but it was super stormy today!
Sitting in the salon, drinking a coffee and watching a tug go by...life could be worse!
Mr. Mark playing with wires, trying to track down the possibility of a short. The guys have called every Volvo dealer/mechanic from here to Orange Beach, Alabama and the consensus seems to be that we have a ground problem with the HCU. It is causing the starboard gauges to completely stop working. The engine isn't having any issues, but it is a little unnerving to not be able to monitor the situation. We are also losing our depth finder sporadically. Being on the Tenn-Tom, the depth is pretty consistent as it was built for commercial traffic, so this hasn't caused too much angst.
Lesson learned - we have mice on board ;) First baked goodie from the oven - learned that the temp is pretty accurate, but using the smaller pans caused the outside to get a wee bit more done than I usually prefer.
Where is next planned stop?
